SOUTHERN SINFONIA CHAMBER ORCHESTRAPerformance of Classical music for entertainment, musical education and wellbeing

Southern Sinfonia is a professional Chamber Orchestra founded in the South East of England in 1995 and now resident and performing in Taunton and across the South West.

We give traditional classical music concerts, mainly at Queens’ College Auditorium, as well as being specialists in Baroque chamber music as it was intended to be played by its composers.
Much in demand as the professional orchestra to accompany talented Choirs at their important performances, we perform with them in cathedrals such as Exeter, Wells, Bath, Salisbury and Winchester.

Our community work in and around Taunton includes recitals in Care Homes for older people and playing for children’s events and in education settings.

We are frequently asked to make recordings, the most recent being Requiems composed by Matthew Coleridge and Dan Lochlair. Both were performed in Christ Church, Dorset, a church whose unique acoustics are much sort after by composers and musicians. We have also recently recorded sme beautiful music and songs by the Greek composer Elena Pavlea (all these are available on the ‘Convivium’ label ).
